The 1st Vice President of the Nigerian Baseball and Softball Federation NBSF, Achakpo Victor has been appointed as the chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the first West African Para Games (Zones A and B), set to take place in Abeokuta, Ogun State from November 26 to December 4, 2025.
The National Sports Commission (NSC) made the announcement as part of efforts to make Nigeria a preferred destination for international sporting competitions, in line with the Renewed Hope Initiative for Nigeria’s Sports Economy (RHINSE) initiated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
Working in collaboration with the Paralympic Committee of Nigeria (PCN), the NSC is determined to ensure the successful hosting of the competition, with Achakpo Victor leading the 13-member LOC.
Speaking on the preparations for the event, the Director General of the NSC, Hon. Bukola Olopade, expressed confidence in the capabilities of the LOC to deliver a world-class sporting spectacle.
“We have set high organisational standards with the events we have hosted this year, and we are committed to maintaining that level of excellence with the West African Para Games. Our partnership with the Paralympic Committee of Nigeria has been instrumental in bringing this competition to Nigeria, and we are excited for what’s to come,” Olopade stated.
The LOC includes members such as Babatunde Adeluola, Adesiyan Abimbola, Musa Mustapha, and several other experienced individuals who will work together to ensure a smooth and successful event.
With the appointment of Achakpo Victor as the chairman of the LOC, all eyes are now on Abeokuta as preparations ramp up for the inaugural West African Para Games, promising to be a memorable and exciting event for athletes and spectators alike.
