The executive director of Idoko Foundation, Prince Onuche Zico Isaac, during the celebration of this year’s International day of Child’s labour has emphasised the need for the protection of the rights of every child. This he said calls for investments into social safety nets and programs to protect children from being forced into child labour.
The Idoko foundation in collaboration with kogi NACTAL joined the world against Child labour in the 2022 international day of child labour with the theme: Universal social protection to end child labour.
The program was held at kabba central market with the market women. The Executive Director of Idoko foundation Prince Onuche Zico Isaac talked about using under age child to hawk, thereby exposing them to social vices in the community and society at large.
The day aims to bring various stakeholders like national and local governments, civil authorities, members of civil and international societies and organisations together to eradicate work that deprives millions of children of decent education, working conditions and living wages.
A special focus is laid on the mental and physical harm that child labour inflicts. The day emphasises on proper guidelines to be established to eradicate child labour.
Equally the Kogi state NACTAL coordinator Mr John ojochemi Amabi spoke extensively on child right act which must strictly be followed to avoid being caught.
Other speakers are from the Kabba development Union, Ministry of environment (KOSEPB), DSS, Nigeria Police Force, Federal road safety Corp, Ministry of women affairs, Ministry of Education, NILOWV.
The market women were very happy question and answer session was observed.
