In recognition of his selfless supports to girl child education and sports in Kogi State and Nigeria at large, a “PEARL AWARD” was presented to the 2023 Kogi West ACCORD (A) Senatorial candidate, Bashorun MD Eseyin (FPOP) by Association of Nigerian Women in Sports (NAWIS) Kogi State Chapter.
In his keynote remark, Bashorun MD Eseyin FPOP, represented by Comrade Olowu Emmanuel apologized for Eseyin’s inability to be physically present due to unforseen circumstances that is beyond his control.
Speaking on the topic “Policy and Politics of Women’s Sport and women in sport, challenges and way forward” Bashorun MD Eseyin Noted that “female sport was been discourage by the government and didn’t recieve enough coverage and funding compared to the male category.”
He also said further that one of the challenges associated with female in sports is Fewer Role Models. “Girls have a shortage of successful althletes they can point to as examples of female sport achievement” he said.
Way forward; Bashorun MD Eseyin implore the government to channel proper funding towards the female sport like that of the male and also encourage parent to allow girls child participate in athletic as they have better opportunities in sports.
The 30 years anniversary and the ceremony of National Elective Congress, hosted by the Kogi State Chapter of Association of Nigeria Womem in Sport (NAWIS) took place at Lokoja, Kogi State, Nigeria on the 13th of October, 2022 with notable Personalities in attendance.
