Kogi West Senator, Sunday Karimi, Funds Education Initiatives with N300 Million Scholarship Program

Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, representing Kogi West Senatorial District, has recently announced his plan to disburse a staggering N300 million in scholarships to deserving students across Kogi State. The Senator revealed this exciting initiative during a press conference held in Lokoja on Saturday as part of the celebration of his second year in office.

Senator Karimi highlighted his continued dedication to the welfare and development of the people of Kogi State, emphasizing the importance of investing in education. Last year, he provided a N100 million bursary to students in Kogi West, and this year, he plans to extend his support to students in Kogi East and Central as well.

The Senator detailed his plans to distribute N100 million in bursaries to students in Kogi East and N61 million to those in Kogi Central. Additionally, students in Kogi West will benefit from a N139 million bursary award under the names of the Tinubu Support Group and the Senator Sunday Steve Karimi Students Bursary Award for 2025. In total, the scholarship disbursement will amount to N300 million, a significant investment in the education sector of the state.

Senator Karimi’s commitment to education does not end with scholarships. He also shared plans to collaborate with the Titcombe College Old Students Association, his Alma mater, to transform their old library into a Computer-Based Test Centre (CBT). This initiative aims to provide easier access to exams such as the Joint Admissions Board exams, reducing the need for students to travel outside the state for these assessments.

The investment in the CBT Centre is estimated to cost N160 million, with additional resources being allocated for the necessary equipment, infrastructure, and utilities. Senator Karimi’s holistic approach to education includes providing laptops, installing internet connections, ensuring electricity supply with a 43.5 kva generator set, and even setting up solar-powered street lights around the school premises.

The announcement of the N300 million scholarship program has been met with praise and gratitude from students and parents alike, as it promises to alleviate the financial burden of education for many families in Kogi State. Senator Sunday Steve Karimi’s dedication to empowering the youth through education underscores his commitment to the betterment of his constituents and the state as a whole.
