It is no secret that these are indeed trying times for people across the country as the Economy is biting hard and the cost of living has risen to astromical heights. It is in spite of this palpable hardship that the Chairman of the Osaseyi Foundation who is also the pioneer General Manager of the Kogi State Signage and Advertisement Agency has once again put smiles on the faces of numerous families in Okoro-Gbede,Ijumu Local Government Area.
The humanitarian,who has vowed that under his watch,every child in Okoro-Gbede and its environs will receive
qualitative education has paid the school fees of every child in his community for the third academic term. This has been the practise of the Philanthropist for several years and he has not allowed the current economic situation in the country deter his efforts and resolve to keep children in school;thereby bringing untold relief to these children and their families. Interestingly, other communities and neighbouring villages have benefitted a lot from the Foundation’s scholarship scheme.The population of the students who attend public schools in Okoro-Gbede comprise of Bassa,Tiv,Ebira,Nupe,etc communities. This scholarship scheme has beneficiaries across the entire Kogi West.
Hon. Osaseyi in his bid to ensure quality education for the students took it a step further by collaborating with the
management of Okoro-Gbede High school to employ five(5) PTA teachers to improve the learning experience of the students. The Philanthropist has taken it upon himself to pay these teachers their stipends out of his own pocket.
The beneficiaries of the scholarship scheme include:
1: ILGEA SCHOOL 1 OKORO GBEDE
2: ILGEA SCHOOL 2 OKORO GBEDE
3: UBE JSS OKORO GBEDE
4: OKORO GBEDE HIGH SCHOOL
The total number of students who benefitted from this scholarship stands at Seven hundred and sixty-five(765).
It is worthy of note that Honourable Richard Osaseyi has not only contributed
immensely to the growth and development of several communities in Kogi West but is also a force to be reckoned with on the Political scene. He has created a solid platform for the youth in his community and Kogi West generally to thrive and to participate actively in Politics. His open-door policy has endeared many to him;he also believes strongly in having one-on-one interactions with the core of the voting population in Kogi West.
Hon. Osaseyi has at all times proved to be a loyal and dogged member of the All Progressives Congress and has portrayed this by achieving landslide victories in his ward during elections.
The good people of Okoro-Gbede will always consider themselves fortunate and blessed to have one of their sons lift their children to become great men and women
through quality education and adequate mentorship. Through his Foundation,countless lives have been transformed for the better.
