ADC Kogi State Warns Members Against Unsanctioned Meetings

The Kogi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has issued a stern warning to its members, cautioning against attending any event not authorized by the party in the state. In a press release, the party made it clear that any member, especially state executive committee members, who attends an unsanctioned event, particularly one called by Hon. Leke Abejide, a member of the House of Representatives, risks suspension or expulsion.

The ADC leadership emphasized that only the state chairman and secretary have the authority to call a state executive meeting, pointing out that Hon. Abejide does not possess the necessary power under the party’s constitution. Furthermore, the party questioned the motives of the lawmaker, noting his affiliation with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja.

Members were urged to adhere to the party’s directives to maintain unity and discipline within the ADC ranks.

Press Release

The Kogi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has warned any of it’s members, particularly state’s executive committee members not to attend any event not sanctioned by the leadership of the party in the state.

Specifically, the party warned all members of the ADC not to honour an invitation from a member of the House of Representatives, Hon Leke Abejide scheduled for Abuja any time from now.

The warning is contained in a statement issued by the state Chairman of the party, Mr. Kingsley Temitope Ogga and the Secretary, Mr. John Adaji issued in Lokoja on Thursday.

In the statement made available to newsmen in Lokoja, the party directed the local government chairmen not to honour the invitation, saying Hon. Abejide has no locus to call a meeting of the ADC.

Reading the riot act, the party warned of dire consequences for any member that attends the meeting, saying such errant ADC member risks suspension or expulsion for disobeying the party.

According to the statement, “Hon. Abejide is usurping the powers and responsibilities of the State Chairman and the State Secretary as contained in the
constitution of our great party.

“He has no power under the party’s Constitution to call such a meeting. Only the state chairman and secretary can call a state executive meeting.”

Apart from Hon. Abejide lacking the required authority to call the meeting, the statement queried the motive for convening the meeting owing to the fact that the lawmaker has been fraternizing with the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in Abuja.

“We are at a loss with regards to the motive for why Hon. Abejide has convened the meeting considering the fact that he has never been seen at meetings and functions of the ADC since 2023 when he was elected,” the party wrote.

Signed;
Hon Kingsley Temitope Ogga
ADC Chairman, Kogi State
