Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo has hailed Kogi United for reaching the finals of the Aiteo Cup, charging the Club to win the trophy for the good people of the Confluence State.
Fanwo made the charge while reacting to the victory of Kogi United at the Quarter Final, saying all the people of Kogi are united behind their darling team.
“I am glad that we have powered into the Final of the prestigious Aiteo Cup. Millions of Kogi people are rooting for our dear male team. You have defeated the defending Champions of the Premier League to reach this level. There is no stopping you from here.
“We are backing you as you have made history as the first Kogi club to play in the Final of the competition.
“Your untiring resoluteness typifies the true Kogi spirit of resilience and determination to win. It is our dream to see you lift the trophy and represent our country on the continent next year”.
Kogi United, who walked over Kano Pillars in Makurdi, were programmed to meet the winner of the clash between Wikki Tourists and Nasarawa United. Both the Solid Miners and the Tourists failed to turn up in Kaduna. On that score, Kogi United are through to next week’s grand finale, to play the winner of the semi final tie between Niger Tornadoes and Heartland FC.
The grand finale of this year’s AITEO Cup competition, for both the men’s and women’s events, will hold at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa on Wednesday, 17th August..
He called on Kogites to pray for the Team so that they would bring the glory home, saying the team is in high spirits to deliver the trophy.
