Okun women Worldwide under the aegis of Okun Ladies Association (OLA) are celebrating their day globally on Thursday September 29, 2022. The group will also seize the opportunity of the occasion to organize a roundtable on the interest of Okun women in politics and the 2023 general elections and to raise funds to complete her skills acquisition center. The President of the association, Chief Mrs Josephine Medupin, a bonafide member of this great family-IUG was emphatic that Okun ladies Association is fully out to fight for the right of women in our society. “We will no longer tolerate being pushed to the background after using us to win elections,” Chief Josephine said.
The Association in her magnanimity is preparing to honour some eminent Okun citizens during their grand event on Thursday of this week. Among those to be honoured is the overall leader of this great house, Otunba Dr APS Arogundade, Chairman Group BOT as Okun man of honour. Other members of this group to benefit from the awards and investitures are Her Royal Highness Oba Nike Okundaye, Oba Asa Obalufon of Yorubaland and CEO Nike Art Gallery, Aare Yeye Folashade Joseph, MD/CEO NAIC, Mr O S Thomas, National Commissioner of Insurance. Also to be decorated with Okun ladies Association’s patron and award is yet another Ijumu leader in the house, Gen JOS Oshanupin (rtd). A hard working okun representative in the green chamber and a renowned philanthropist, Asiwaju Leke Abejide, Chairman House Committee on Customs is equally going to be decorated as Okun Man of the Year at the venue of the occasion at Reverton Hotel, Lokoja on that day. Erelu Toyin Oki, a Queen of the tube of Orisun Television is the major anchor of the Okun Women Day Celebration.
In a similar development on the same date of Okun Ladies Association’s ceremony, The Projector newspaper in commemoration of its 10th year’s anniversary is to honour selected personalities that have distinguished themselves in their callings. Among them is the amiable IUG Group Chair – Hon Funsho Olumoko who is to be decorated with a Grassroots Connect Award. According to the publisher of the magazine, Mr Gideon Ayodele, “our outfit recognizes Olumoko’s effort towards human capacity building and community development.”
