Asiwaju Asiru Idris FCA Highlights Governor Ododo’s Vision for Social Protection Program at NSR-NIN Integration Training

The Kogi State Operation Coordinating Unit (KOGi-SOCU) of the National Social Register (NSR) kicked off a 3-Day Workshop in Lokoja on Monday, focusing on NSR-NIN Integration step-down training for LG Desk Officers and Field Enumerators from all 21 LGAs in the state.

Representing the Chairman of the occasion, Hon Commissioner for Finance, Budget, and Economic Planning, Asiwaju Asiru Idris, FCA, Special Adviser for Finance Hon Idris Ozi Shaib FCA, warmly welcomed the dignitaries and participants to the workshop. Keynote addresses were delivered by various stakeholders, emphasizing the importance of integrating the National Identification Number (NIN) into the National Social Register to enhance the effectiveness of social protection programs.

In his speech, the Hon Commissioner highlighted Governor Ododo’s commitment to uplifting the less privileged in society. He stated that the government’s vision for the Social Protection Program is deeply rooted in the desire to eradicate poverty and vulnerability, ensuring that all citizens can live dignified and meaningful lives. By empowering vulnerable groups, such as youths and women, the government aims to reduce crime rates and create a more prosperous and resilient community.

The Hon Commissioner emphasized the importance of collaboration between the State, Federal, and World Bank in implementing social safety net programs. He assured participants that the state is actively seeking opportunities to access programs aimed at poverty reduction, aligning with the long-term development goals outlined in the Kogi State Development Plan.

Encouraging all attendees to work together towards the successful implementation of the program, the Hon Commissioner expressed optimism for a brighter future for Kogi State. The workshop then commenced with technical sessions and training, focusing on equipping participants with the necessary skills to carry out the integration effectively.
