Ahead of the general elections in 2023, the APC family in Kogi West Senatorial District converged in Kabba for a road walk to sensitize the people of the area to vote en-masse for the presidential candidate and his running mate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kazeem Shettima of the ruling All Progressive Congress.
Speaking at the event, the convener, Chief Ben Olowodola said it has become imperative for the party to sensitize the people of the zone towards the elections for them to make the right choice in Asiwaju Bola Tinubu considering his antecedents while he held sway as the Governor of Lagos state over fifteen years ago.
He said since primary elections are over and candidates have emerged, all sub groups have been collapsed into one hence there is need for all to come together for the party to remain stronger since the people cannot afford to lag behind in the push for a better Nigeria hence as one of the Campaign Directors in the North Central Zone, he decided to put the event together in the buildup to the elections.
The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly who doubles as the candidate of the party for the Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, Prince Matthew Kolawole commended the leadership acumen of Chief Olowodola who single handedly sponsored the event. He urged all APC members to give maximum support to his leadership.
According to him, the people of the area cannot afford to be in the opposition hence the need for continuous sensitization for the zone to deliver overwhelming votes for the party, stressing that it is only in unity that the zone can rightly take its due especially as it relates to the Governorship in 2024.
He urged all supporters and party faithfuls in Kogi west to queue behind the leadership of Chief Olowodola, pointing out that going forward he will let the people know that APC is one big family in the area.
He said as the candidate of the party, a lot of goodies will be rolled out in a matter of weeks as the party has really done well for the people of the zone in terms of project execution by the Governor Yahaya Bello led administration in the state.
Also speaking, the senatorial candidate of the party, Hon. Sunday Karimi said it is only Asiwaju Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the party that is moving round donating handsome sums of money to different states that were ravaged by floods, stressing that someone who is spending his personal money how much more when he is elected.
He assured the people that Asiwaju Tinubu will guarantee prosperity in the country as he did in Lagos and appealed to the people to be patient so as to benefit from the good days coming to Nigeria.
He said with his antecedents, the country will witness an unprecedented prosperity under his leadership because he is a wealth creator, that has the capacity and cutting edge strategies that will tackle insecurity and make life more meaningful for the average Nigerians when elected.
He said as a Senatorial candidate, he urged the people to vote for all candidates of the party as he will strive hard to provide qualitative representations, lobby for projects that will have direct impact on the populace when elected, noting that the kind of prosperity coming to the land will be mind boggling.
The Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning and a Governorship hopeful, Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris said before elections no community in Kogi West will not feel the impact of the current administration led by Governor Yahaya Bello.
He stressed that APC is united in the zone under the leadership of Chief Ben Olowodola, and noted that those who were not able to attend may be as a result of another assignment for the progress of the party.
He said the next meeting will witness more attendance to show that both in and outside the government everybody is on the same page to deliver victory for the party in the general elections.
While the party candidate for Yagba Federal Constituency, Engr. Folorunsho Olafemi is optimistic of the success of the party, he appealed to party faithfuls to take their campaigns house to house to let the people know the difference.
He said Yagba land will witness unprecedented development if he is elected.
