Curtailing the Conscription of Children as Soldiers by Terrorists: NOA to synergise with NAPTIP

Stakeholders in every part of the nation have been urged to work together in preventing the conscription of children as soldiers by terrorists.

This very important call was made on Wednesday by Olusegun Adeyemi, State Director National Orientation Agency during an advocacy visit to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons Kwara State.

The visit became imperative as part of efforts to communicate government policies,programmes and activities with the aim of curtailing the increased recruitment of child soldiers by Terrorists in the North-East and other parts of the country.

Adeyemi described as worrisome, the move by bandits and terrorists to destroy the innocence of children and equip them with arms and ammunition against their fatherland.

The NOA director stated that the security implications of such a move is dangerous for us collectively, hence, the need for stakeholders to work together and ensure the illegal activities are checked.

In his comments, State Commander, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) Mallam Saadu Mustapha reiterated the need for concerted efforts by Stakeholders in the elimination of all forms of trafficking and misuse of humans such as enlisting of child soldiers by terrorists.

The NAPTIP Boss also admonished parents to watch their children closely while Transporters and other officials at Motor parks are to be vigilant and alert security officials when they observe infractions and illegal movements of children anywhere.

The State Commander who promised to work with NOA in this National assignment and others therefore called for a strong synergy among all Nigerians in the prevention and elimination of unwholesome activities.
