The newly appointed Head of Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, has called upon the permanent secretaries in the federal civil service to rally behind the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025 for the betterment of service delivery.
During the inaugural retreat for federal permanent secretaries, which took place from September 5 to 7, 2024, in Zuba, Niger State, themed “Accelerating Public Service Reforms Towards Effective Service Delivery,” Walson-Jack stressed the importance of the strategic roadmap outlined in the FCSSIP-25. She emphasized that it was not merely a document but a blueprint that would lead to a more efficient, accountable, and citizen-focused public service.
In her keynote address, the HoSF spoke highly of the pivotal role played by permanent secretaries in bridging policy formulation and implementation. She urged them to align their operations with the objectives of the FCSSIP-25 to ensure effective execution while upholding the principles of good governance. Walson-Jack acknowledged the trust placed in the permanent secretaries by Nigerians, noting their dedication and responsibility within the MDAs.
Commending the permanent secretaries for their commitment to upholding the service’s values and standards, Walson-Jack encouraged them to view themselves as custodians of institutional knowledge tasked with serving Nigerians with integrity and impartiality. She assured them of her unwavering support in navigating challenges and finding solutions that serve the country’s best interests.
