In a scathing press release issued on October 9, 2023, the Dino/Habiba Governorship Campaign voiced their disdain for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its campaign flag-off in Kogi State. The campaign mockingly referred to the event as “full of another seasonal lies, spiced with cheap talks and empty promises.”
The Dino/Habiba Governorship Campaign did not mince words when accusing the APC of being notorious for spewing lies and making false promises during every election cycle, to the dismay of the people of Kogi State. However, they were confident that the upcoming November 11 election would not be swayed by such deceit, with their candidate, Senator Dino Melaye, standing firmly against the unacceptable antics of the APC.
One of the campaign’s main points of contention was the APC’s repeated promises to improve infrastructure in the region, such as the Ganaja – Ajaokuta and Lokoja – Okene roads, as well as the completion of Ajaokuta Steel. They dismissed these promises as “seasonal lies” propagated by the outgoing Governor Yahaya Bello and the APC, aimed at deceiving the inhabitants of Kogi State.
The Dino/Habiba Governorship Campaign further highlighted the farcical nature of the APC’s tactics, accusing them of brazenly itemizing the same challenges they themselves have caused, only to make empty promises that are never fulfilled. They derisively referred to this as “cheap talk.”
Recalling a striking example from 2019, when former Governor of Kogi State, Malam Nasir el-Rufai, swore that Governor Yahaya Bello would usher in good governance, the campaign underscored the glaring unfulfilled assurances made by the APC.
With unyielding determination, the Dino/Habiba Governorship Campaign firmly believes that the APC’s reign in Kogi State is coming to an end. The people of Kogi State, disillusioned by the corrupt and insensitive administration of the APC, are poised to elect Senator Dino Melaye as the next Governor of the State, ensuring their liberation from such governance.
In a clear message to the APC candidate, Usman Ododo, the campaign warned him that he is no match for the more popular Senator Dino Melaye, and therefore should brace himself for an inevitable defeat. The campaign vowed that not even a barrage of lies, false promises, or resort to violence would save the APC in this election.
As the people of Kogi State have made up their minds, November 11 will reveal their choice for the next Governor, and according to the Dino/Habiba Governorship Campaign, it will be Senator Dino Melaye, epitomizing a brighter future for the State.
