The quest for who to succeed Governor Yahaya Bello is fast approaching as candidates are now set engge the voters. Beyond that, the quest for power shift or rotation to western senatorial district tops the agenda by the gladiators.
The outgoing governor Yahaya Bello on the other hand had taken his position publicly that he is ready to retain power in his zone, Kogi Central. He will be serving his 8 years of two at expiration of his term by January 2024.
Careful look at the candidates from Kogi West particularly Okun, suggest that, they have abundance opportunities to taste the governorship position in the forthcoming election slated for November 11, 2023.
The fact remains that i have enormous respect and regard for the all the candidates so far in Kogi West and i respect their inalienable rights to seek for coveted office of the governor. Beyond that, we must choose between getting serious to make power rotation happen in November 11 governorship election or play to the mendacity as usual and allow this golden opportunity flip our hands.
Governorship project streched beyond a matter of a purported dominance of candidate in a constituency or his clan, a “must-be-governor” undoubtedly must have acceptability, popularity and politically savvy to operate in tune and capacity with the current electoral hurdles.
The PDP governorship candidate, Sen Dino Melaye is the only candidate that can withstand the political battles ahead if Kogi West must taste the power. Without parochial submissions and sentiments, Sen Dino remains the best option for Kogi West to back.
He is acceptable and very popular in the three Senatorial Districts of Kogi State with personal contacts everywhere. Endowed with capacity and capabilities to withstand the political intrigues and manoeuvring of outgoing APC governor.
He is not a candidate that is waiting or hanging to be introduced to political stakeholders or a group of people either in Igala, Ebira or Okun land
Permit me to state clearly that, to rescue power from a character that is not willing to support power rotation, not interested in the feelings of other zones, ready to brutally confront and unleash violence on opponents, goes beyond issue of rythorical advertisement of just payment of WAEC fee by a candidate. It is obviously beyond that cheap orientation!
Peeping through his antecedent politically, Sen Melaye has participated and actively involved in the both local, state and national politics and electioneering. In fact, the name Dino became a household name in the political space of Nigeria and beyond.

Finally, i must commend the efforts of all our candidates once again, and i hope we find maturity in them to play the game purposefully.
