***says campaign of calumny, insults by PDP most unfortunate
Engr. Abubakar Ohere, the All Progressives Congress Senatorial District Flagbearer in forthcoming February election, has disclosed that the foundation for the sustainable development of the District is being laid by Gov. Yahaya Bello through his unprecedented infrastructure development of the area.
Engr. Ohere made the disclosure against the backdrop of recent insults and the campaign of calumny targeted at Gov. Yahaya Bello and the APC by the opposition PDP when they officially flagged off there campaign in Ihima yesterday, described the action as most unfortunate.
The APC Senatorial District Flagbearer in a chat with newsmen appealed for peace amongst people of the district that will allow Gov. Bello to do more for the people of the Central Senatorial District.
Engr. Ohere called on the opposition PDP to campaign on issues, not insults, advised the opposition to in there campaign sale the achievements of there party and what they were able to do for the people of Central when the opportunity presented itself.
While pointing out that his aspiration to represent the good people of the district at the upper Chamber is borne out of the desires to build on the achievements of Gov. Bello and to make laws that would improve on the well-being of the people, lamented that the PDP is starting on a wrong footing from there utterances and remarks made at the Ihima flag off.
According to Engr. Ohere ” It is a fact that Gov. Yahaya Bello fixed many roads in Central Senatorial District. It is a fact that our decaying infrastructures received utmost attention under Gov. Yahaya Bello. It is a fact that Gov. Yahaya Bello brought Confluence University of Science and Technology Osara to the Central. It is a fact also that Gov. Bello brought the Science Model School at Nagazi. It Is a fact my dear people of Kogi Central that Gov. Yahaya Bello embarked and completed the Ebiraland Ohinoyi Palace. It is also a fact that Gov. Bello gave sense of belonging to all clans through traditional institutions upgrading and appropriate remuneration. It is a fact that renovation work of the Technical College, Oboroke is ongoing. It is a fact that road works from Itakpe junction through FCE to Okene is being awarded by this government and many more that are too numerous to mention.
‘ I therefore wish to use this medium to advise the handlers of the PDP campaign and any opposition party that matters to campaign strictly on their usual empty promises and many disappointing legacies of deceit and avoid insults that would affect the peaceful coexistence of the people.
” I was saddened yesterday after I learnt of the abusive song which seemed to have been directed at the Governor as PDP started off their campaign at Ihima.
” Apart from the fact that it is rude and uncultured to insult our leaders. This scenario does not augur well for peaceful conduct of both campaigns and elections.
” I therefore do hope that the organisers of yesterday’s rally will find it necessary to publicly apologize for there misadventure in the interest of peace and tranquility.
Engr. Ohere explained that it is not in the character of the people of Central to insult others, described the yesterday’s action as unfortunate.
The APC Senatorial District Flagbearer says he is looking and calling for a meeting of critical stakeholders, Clan Chiefs and other opinion moulders to deliberate on the issues that would lead to peace and harmony and to come out with clear resolutions that would allow for issues based campaign and decent politicking ahead the 2023 general election.
