In a bid to enhance corporate social responsibility initiatives that benefit host communities, Hon. Sunday Paul, the Senior Special Assistant on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to Governor Ododo, led a joint advocacy visit to Dangote Cement Company in Obajana yesterday. The visit, which took place on the 23rd of September 2025, focused on addressing pressing concerns raised by residents of Kogi State regarding the operations of Dangote Cement.
During the visit, Honorable Sunday Paul addressed various issues that have been plaguing the community, including the significant damages caused to both state and federal roads by Dangote trucks, leading to tragic accidents and loss of life. There were also claims that families of victims have not received compensation for these incidents. Furthermore, many residents expressed their worries about the perceived marginalization of Kogi indigenes in terms of job opportunities within the company.
In response, Hon. Sunday Paul emphasized the importance of enhancing security measures and implementing skills development and capacity-building initiatives to benefit the local youth and the broader Kogi populace. He stressed the need for open dialogue and transparency regarding Dangote’s operations in Kogi State to ensure mutual benefits for all stakeholders involved.
Additionally, Hon. Sunday Paul urged Dangote Cement to actively engage with the local youth, promoting entrepreneurship and enhancing employability to align with the state’s goals of reducing unemployment and stimulating economic growth. He also proposed discussions on implementing CSR projects that would benefit both the company and the host communities, focusing on skills development, entrepreneurship training, and job creation.
