Growth and Development: Kogi State to Implement Gender Equality in Education Policy

The Kogi State Government has reassured participants at the ongoing workshop for the Domestication of Gender Equality in Education, that they will take further steps to implement the policy for the growth and development of education in the State.

The State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, gave this assurance on Thursday in Lokoja while monitoring the progress of the workshop on the Domestication of Gender Equality in Education and Its implementation.

He stated that the State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, would implement policies that would create an all-inclusive and equitable learning environment in the State. Hon. Jones also emphasized that the State Government would do everything possible to implement the policy for the economic growth and development of the State.

Commending the participants for taking part in the assignment, he urged them to come up with a workable document for implementation, promising that prosperity would bless them as they undertake this important task.

The State Coordinator for drafting the Gender in Education Policy, Dr. Elizabeth Animoku Ahman, assured the Commissioner that at the end of the exercise, the State would have a document that addresses all gender issues in education.

She highlighted that Kogi State is one of the few states in Nigeria demonstrating this policy. The workshop, organized by Agile project, began on Tuesday, 18th of March, with the aim of domesticating the National Gender Equality in Education policy and its implementation in Kogi State. In attendance was the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Dr. Jibrin Saidu Alhaji.
