The Executive Chairman of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael, on Friday morning held a closed-door meeting with members of the Tricycle Owner Association of Nigeria (TOAN), Kabba/Bunu LGA Chapter.
The meeting held at the council legislative chamber was to address the grievances of the riders workforce in the local government area.
Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael has taken a decisive step to regulate the operation of motorcyclists and tricyclists in Kabba/Bunu LGA, declaring that unregistered operators will be prohibited from plying the roads effective March 1, 2025. The Chairman conveyed this directive on Friday following a meeting of the local’s security council.
At the end of the two hours meeting, both the government and the union agreed on a number of issues that had been causing disaffection between the two parties.
Zacchaeus pledged government’s sincerity in the implementation of all that was agreed on, to the delight of the representatives of the tricycle riders.
”We prioritize safety of live of Kabba/Bunu LGA residents and our okada riders are very important to achieving our objective,” he said.
The Chairman emphasized the local’s commitment to addressing the challenges associated with commercial motorcycle and tricycle activities to enhance overall security.
On his part, the Chairman, Tricycle Owner Association of Nigeria (TOAN), Kabba/Bunu LGA Chapter, Mr Edward Olorunshogo, thanked Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael for acceding to most of their requests.
Edward described the chairman as a true leader and father who cared about his children.
He promised to call an emergency congress of the association, where the union would announce its decision to discipline or suspend any member that violated any of the government directives.
