The Bunu Development Association (BDA), the apex socio-cultural and developmental organization representing the people of Bunu District in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, has extended warm congratulations to Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan (SAN) on his recent appointment as the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
In a statement signed by its President-General, Pastor Kolawole Johnson Folorunsho, JP, FCTI, the Association described Professor Amupitan’s appointment as a “celebration of merit, integrity, and excellence,” noting that the new INEC boss embodies the virtues of diligence, scholarship, and patriotism that the nation urgently needs in leadership.
According to the statement, “Professor Amupitan’s appointment is a testament to the value of hard work, consistency, and proven competence. He has demonstrated exceptional leadership, both in academia and public service, and we have no doubt that his experience and character will bring renewed trust, professionalism, and transparency to Nigeria’s electoral process.”
The Bunu Development Association commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for recognizing capacity and merit in making such a crucial appointment. The Association noted that by selecting Prof. Amupitan, the President has once again demonstrated his firm belief in rewarding excellence and placing national interest above politics or sentiment.
“The people of Bunu land and indeed Kogi State are deeply appreciative of Mr. President for this appointment. It reflects his confidence in capable Nigerians regardless of background, and his resolve to strengthen democratic institutions through competent leadership,” the statement added.
Pastor Kolawole Johnson Folorunsho further remarked that Prof. Amupitan’s appointment has brought pride and honour to the entire Okun nation, describing him as one of the brightest minds produced by the community and a shining example of integrity and intellectual depth.
The Association expressed optimism that the new INEC Chairman will consolidate ongoing electoral reforms, deepen the use of technology in election management, and promote fairness, transparency, and inclusiveness in the electoral system.
“We are confident that under Professor Amupitan’s watch, the Independent National Electoral Commission will record significant improvements in efficiency, credibility, and the overall conduct of elections in Nigeria.
