Osun Central senatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Chief Olubiyi Fadeyi, has further reiterated commitment towards ensuring massive employment opportunities for youths at federal government agencies, parastatals and institutions regardless of age difference.

Ajagunla Olubiyi Fadeyi, who expressed worries at the rate of unemployment in Nigeria which, according to statista.com, is estimated to reach 33 percent at the end of year 2022, said it is sad to see that most Nigerian youths who write and send applications for federal government jobs end up being denied for lacking specified years of work experience in a particular field or industry, thereby contributing to the increase in the level of youth joblessness in the country.

“The rate at which unemployed graduates roam the street after the National Youth Service constitutes social menaces to the country as a whole. Imagine a Nigerian youth who has just graduated from the University and has undergone the one year compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and still remain jobless as a result of lack of specified work experience or overage. This can be a very frustrating experience considering the economic hardship facing the country at the moment.

“Unemployment in Nigeria among youths has created tension and hatred between the haves and have not, leading to cyber crime, armed robbery, prostitution, human trafficking, communal clashes and the expansion of dreaded groups such as Boko Haram, Niger Delta Militant, thereby creating threats to security of lives and properties”, Ajagunla noted.

Chief Fadeyi said if elected Senator to represent the good people of Osun central senatorial district in the February 25 National Assembly election, there will be an amendment of laws in a way that will accommodate all qualified Nigerian youths to secure federal government job opportunities irrespective of gender, age groups or work experience.

“As part of my cardinal agenda for the good people of Osun Central senatorial district, we will create labour market that paves the way for youths employment. We will also ensure that government invests heavily on education to enable the youth become self-reliant instead of job seekers through series of skills development and training”, he concluded.
