PROTOCOLS
Gentlemen and ladies let me start my address by first of all giving thanks to the Almighty God who in his infinite mercies has made this day a reality for all of us to witness this epoch making event on this unique day the 1st of October, 2022.

You will all agree with me that we as individuals do not have a choice over where we were born. It’s strictly the prerogative of the Almighty and as such we all must make concerted effort to live in harmony as members of the same family, this does not in effect means that occasionally frictions will not occur, but our collective ability to resolve such friction/misunderstanding and foster ahead in unison of purpose matters of life.
Ijumu Unity Group (IUG) is a socio-political pressure group fashioned to bring Ijumu citizens home and abroad together in one accord with the desire to rejuvenate the group, electrify the system so that Ijumu shall come first in all our socio-political and economic engagements and of course the ijumu social system can retain her past glory.
In view of this, Gentlemen and Ladies of honour present here today the cardinal objective of bringing Ijumu Unity Group to life once again is to ensure that Ijumu and her citizens comes first all the time.
Ijumu Unity Group is founded to serve as a vital link between the government at all levels and the governed among states of the nation and international bodies, donor agencies and the likes, it is to make government at all levels be responsive to the wishes and yearnings of Ijumu people.
Ijumu Unity Group is a non-partisan socio-political and economic group that will focus on responsible and responsive representations at all levels therefore ensuring that our people are not short changed in whatever dividend of democracy that is due to us. However we cannot afford to be totally political, it’s all encompassing (i.e politics, economic development, community cohesion, bearing in mind the strength in our unity, promoting culture and tradition not forgetting the omooluabi in us by respecting our traditional institutions, our elders, leaders, opinion molders, religious leaders and institution and more importantly love among us as Ijumites.
I.U.G is determined to promote good governance at all strata of leadership in our society through our collective bargaining, relying on our strength as a people with a view to boost our standard of living.
IUG at all times will evaluate, assess and engage meaningfully with all aspirants of all political parties that desire to represent Ijumu interest with a view to galvanise votes for such aspirants that have Ijumu’s interest as uppermost though with some forms of guarantee extracted from such favoured aspirant.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Experience has taught me that achieving success in life, or business is a function of strategy, models, and taking the right actions, therefore we all must be intentional if we truly want to achieve our goals and objectives as a people.
The IUG has come up with the Ijumu social, economic and communities network (I- SEC NETWORK) as a veritable tool to liberate our people from the shackles of poverty through effective participation and benefitting from all government intervention programmes, donor agencies and sponsorship programmes.

SECURITY
I must at this juncture commend His Royal Majesty the Olujumu of Ijumu Kingdom for his concerted efforts in making sure that there is absolute security of lives and property, while also not forgetting all efforts that has been made by communities across the Local Government, through self help by putting security in their domain to complement the efforts of the government that are statutorily saddled with the responsibility.
LUGARD HOUSE 2024
At times to be successful in life you must take risk (though calculated) because often times what you fear the most to do is the very thing that will set you free. The big question on our lips today is are we as Ijumu/Okun people ready to take the bull by the horn? Or are we just wishing to occupy Lugard House? Have we forgotten that power is not serve al arcarte? That the time to take steps is now? Where are our first eleven? In oneness we should make this demand bearing in mind that its oneness that make Jews Jew and the Arabs Arab.
We have talked about numbers (populations), our hatred for each other (pull him down syndrome) individual greed and the likes, but remember that minority in some states in this country have produced the Chief Executive of those states and whatever difference we have also existed among them equally but we magnify others and that truly tear us apart bitterly, but if we as a people will make considerably impact, politically economically and otherwise, that element of oneness is caviar and of utmost importance, remember lady Elanor Roosevelt said “No one can make you feel inferior without your input”
LEADERSHIP
Leadership is about followership and he who does not have followers is a loon er not a leader. There has been a disconnect between the leadership and the followers and this has given rise to all forms of rebellion, back stabling infighting and utmost betrayal, hatred and the likes knowing fully well that the leader you hate cannot benefit you hence, the need to support IUG to be this missing link that will galvanise our people into formidable team that will birth us the Ijumu of our dream.
Our political leaders are no longer being listen to in Ijumu Kingdom (A case of the rotational system jettisoned) what could be responsible for this? On the part of leadership,
Are they standing on the pedestal of justice, fairness and equity?
Are these leaders created or earned based on their antecedents? While on the part of followers
Do we accord them the desired support, respect, love and honour?
Do these leaders truly deserve our respect, admiration, and praises?
Well, the poser here for all our leaders is this quote from Napoleon Bonaparte “Leaders are dealers in hope, but when leader(s) becomes the destroyer of hope, where lies the inspiration in leadership”
IJUMU UNITY GROUP
The activities of Ijumu Unity Group since formation has been praised and criticize in some quarters, all these are so welcome by us but our appeal is for all Ijumu citizens to note that there is no absolute perfection and if we do not set aside some of these inevitable human errors, it might be difficult for us to form a united front to promote our common goal as Ijumu citizens.
Our main concern in IUG is to ensure that wherever omo Ijumu are, home and broad, their successes, growth, prosperity, and development is our major concern, while also protecting our Heritage jealously.
Today our group of old has been reinvigorated and renamed Ijumu Unity Group under a brand new socio-political and economic system and dynamic leadership that we all are very proud of, we implore all hands to be on deck so that the goal and objectives of this group can be achieved (remember you cannot clap with one hand).
To the privileged few among us, never you measure this life by your possessions, but measure it by the hearts you have touched, the smiles you created, and the love you shared, therefore let’s keep our brotherly love alive.
May all Ijumu citizens both home and in diaspora be blessed and prosper and may this world not be difficult for us all in Jesus Christ name. (Amen)
