In a statement issued on Saturday 20th April, 2024, Ipinmisho described the EFCC’s actions as “quite unethical” and questioned the motive behind the declaration.
“It’s quite unethical practice of EFFC to declare GYB Wanted,” Ipinmisho said. “Bello I know, is not hiding or running because he thinks he is guilty but rather he wanted the EFCC to obey the court as an institution too.”
According to Ipinmisho, there are subsisting court orders that have not been obeyed by the EFCC, which could potentially jeopardize their cases against other politically exposed individuals.
“Case study are: Otunba Gbenga Daniel and several other politically exposed persons’ cases in various courts by EFCC,” he added.
Ipinmisho’s comments came following the EFCC’s declaration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello wanted in connection with allegations of financial aƦ during his time as governor of Kogi State.
The EFCC has yet to respond to Ipinmisho’s criticism, but the statement has sparked debate among political analysts and citizens alike.
Ipinmisho implores well meaning Nigerians to rise up against the needless witching hunting of Nigerians, especially by EFCC. He went further to call on EFCC to always respect the rule of law and fundamental human right of Nigerians
The controversy surrounding the EFCC’s declaration of Bello wanted continues to unfold, as more details emerge about the allegations against the
former governor.
