The Executive Chairman of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael, has thanked Kogi State Governor, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, Hon Salman Idris, Hon Leke Abejide, top government officials, family, friends, and dignitaries who joined him to honour the life and legacy of the Late Olori Marie Ige Owoniyi, the wife of the Obaro of Kabba, HRM Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi.
Kogi State Governor, political office holders, captains of industry and many other notable Nigerians converged in Kabba on Friday at the funeral service for Late Olori Marie Ige Owoniyi, the wife of the Obaro of Kabba, ‘HRM Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi.
In a statement on Saturday referencing a funeral Thanksgiving service held at the Cathedral of St Andrew, Anglican Church, Kabba, Zacchaeus said that while the Olori Marie’s sudden passing was shocking, the family remained thankful.
Zacchaeus, in his remarks, Olori Marie Ige Owoniyi has lived and left. But her works live on, and her deeds will go well with her. Rest well, Marie, until we meet to part no more,” he stated.
The chairman also thanked dignitaries who attended the funeral, including Kogi State Deputy Governor, Elder Joel Oyibo Salifu, Senator Secretary to the government of Kogi State, Pastor (Mrs) Folashade Ayoade Arike PhD, Commissioners, Board Chairmen, DGs, Special Advisers and Senior Special Advisers, and all state and local government officials and all their entourages.
Zacchaeus thanked them for taking time out of their busy schedules to support the Obaro of Kabba family during the funeral rites.
He extolled the virtues of the Late Olori Marie Ige Owoniyi, Zacchaeus, emphasized her invaluable contributions to the development of the local government and Owe land.
He also expressed joy that he (Zacchaeus) had the privilege of benefiting from Olori Marie’s wealth of knowledge, stressing that the state government had given her the honour she deserved and uphold her legacies.
The chairman, who eulogized the late Olori Marie Ige Owoniyi, as a good mother, recounted how she lived a sacrificial life.
“Marie is gone but she left behind for us a legacy. Her legacy was of truth without compromise, forgiveness without holding back and transparency in her dealings with all. This is how I will remember her,” the chairman added.
