Kabba Flood: Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael Inspects Areas Affected, Promises Govt. Intervention

The Executive Chairman of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael, on Monday paid on the spot assessment visit to areas affected by the heavy rainfall on Saturday which wreaked havoc in some parts of Kabba and rendered many homeless while properties worth millions were destroyed.

The Kabba/Bunu LGA helmsman in the company of the officials of the local government area, visited Idde Iyah Kabba, Ben Thomas, Fehinti, Iyamule Odolu, amongst other places affected by the torrential rain.

During the assessing of the properties affected, the Chairman posited that he will plead with the Kogi State Government and SEMA for urgent intervention.

Speaking on behalf of the local government, the team leader and Executive Chairman of Kabba/Bunu LGA, Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael, sympathised with the victims of the flood, stating that the government is aware of their plight and would take speedy action to allay their fears.

He said: “It is really pathetic actually, it is sad what we are seeing here this morning. We came here as a team to see things for ourselves.

Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael who advised residents of the local government to move away from flooded areas and stop building houses on setbacks and river banks, stressed that defiance to the warning posed danger to their lives and property.

He also revealed that by the time the government were able to get all the project under Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) executed the issue of flooding in Kabba metropolis would be dealt with.
