Senator Dino Melaye was elected to be a member of the Federal House of Representative in the 6th Assembly where he represented the Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency and served as the Chairman House Committee on Information and National Orientation.
Senator Melaye was also an elected member of the 8th Senate, where he represented the Kogi West Senatorial District and was the Chairman Senate Committee on FCT.
In the said 8th senate, Melaye put forward the highest number of bills and motions in the history of the National Assembly, with over 25 bills to his name, as well as over 40 motions.
His success on the floor of the house reflects his ability to influence his counterparts on matters that positively impact his constituents.
Senator Melaye served as the Chairman Senate Committee on Aviation in the 9th Assembly and he was a gubernatorial aspirant from PDP in the Kogi State Governorship election in 2019.
Within a year of his election, Senator Melaye constructed and renovated over 120 boreholes across his constituency, which covers seven local government areas.
In 2017/18, Melaye influenced over 200 impactful projects over the senatorial District.
Senator Melaye was born in Kano State, but hails from Kogi State and has gone on to earn certificates from Harvard University, LLB degree in Law from Baze University, a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in Kaduna State. He also acquired an MSc in International Relations and Diplomacy and MSc Policy Analysis from University of Abuja, an Msc Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement and a post-graduate Diploma in Law, Security and Conflict Management from University of Jos.
Melaye also obtained his Senior Secondary School Certificate from Abdul-Aziz memorial college in Okene, after attending and receiving his primary school certificate from Gandun Nasarawa Primary School in Kano State.
Senator Melaye is a leader who is also an industrious, disciplined, determined and intelligent individual with a well-diversified business portfolio. He is the Chairman/CEO of Dino Bite Catering Services, Dino Petrochemical Company, Dino Consult (nig) Ltd., and Audacious Global.
He is also the Founder of SDM Foundation, President of Deaconess Comfort Melaye Education Foundation, a Board member of Accident Victims Rescuers International, CEO of SD Melaye Communications and the Founder /Executive Secretary of Anti-Corruption Network.
Asides from his excellent business sense, Senator Melaye has achieved vast greatness in politics and in development simultaneously. This has led to Senator Melaye being conferred with a number of traditional titles, as well as numerous national and international awards. These include Best Senator in Nigeria 2016 and in 2018 by the Senate Press Corp of the Nigerian Senate.
