***Urge citizens to take advantage of IIJ to
acquire training, enable them excel in modern day media practice
The Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo has urged young people with flair for writing and having interest in Journalism profession to take advantage of the International Institutes of Journalism, Lokoja Study Centre to acquire Certificate and knowledge of the practice of the profession.
Recall that the International Institute Of Journalism Lokoja Campus (Affiliated to University of Maiduguri) has commenced the sales of admission forms for interested individuals.
The IIJ is located at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat/ Press Center, Lord Lugard Road Lokoja,
Kogi State.
The International Institute of Journalism , IIJ is a foremost training Institution for those aspiring to have a stint in the integrated media industry and its allied professions.
The Institute is presently inviting suitably qualified applicants for admission into her Two year Diploma in Journalism, Public Relations, Advertising and Multi Media, Higher Diploma and PGD programs.
Hon. Fanwo described the IIJ in the State as an opportunity for young people and graduates of other fields of discipline to take the advantage and acquire training to enable them excel in the modern day media practice.
The Commissioner who has equally accepted to be a visiting lecturer to the IIJ in Lokoja Study Centre, expressed optimism that with the repositioning of the Institute, it would widen the horizon of the interested individuals, described Journalism as a noble and dynamic profession that makes graduates fit well and relevant in the society.
The admission of the Institute the Commissioner explained is opened to serving Journalists who want to sharpen their skills in Broadcast and, print media and non Journalists who have no training in Journalism or Mass communication, but working as Public Relations, Protocol officers in the Ministries, MDAs; Local Government Councils, Religious Organisations, Military and Para-Military establishments; such as Police, Customs, Immigration, Correctional and Civil Defence Corps officers, assured that they will benefit immensely from the course, which is intended to enhance their skills, Competence and knowledge in the art of publishing and public relations and Advertising.
Qualification For Administration.
Interested Applicants must possess: Senior Secondary School Certificate or its equivalents of NABTEB and NECO and must have at least five credits Passes at not more than two sittings which must include Mathematics and English Language.
About the IIJ.
The Institute is affiliated to the prestigious University of Maiduguri (Unimaid) and has been recognised by the Nigeria Press Council NPC as a professional institute for the training of Journalists in accordance with the NPC enabling Decree of 1992.
The Institute also has linkages with Educatioal Institutes and Professional bodies in the country, which offers similar courses to enable her graduands to use the certificate for entry into the Universities and other Higher Institutions of their choice.
