In a significant move aimed at improving the outdoor advertising landscape in Lokoja, the Kogi State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KOSSAA) recently held a crucial meeting with billboards owners and practitioners.

The General Manager of KOSSAA, Hon Osaseyi Richard, emphasized the importance of fostering a strong working relationship with all stakeholders to attain the agency’s objectives and maintain a visually appealing environment.

Highlighting the positive impact of KOSSAA in ensuring orderliness in signage displays across the State and boosting revenue generation for the State Government, Hon Osaseyi encouraged practitioners to register with the Agency.

Going forward, all billboards will be assigned unique code numbers to distinguish legal installations from illegal ones.

The Agency expressed its commitment to removing illegal, clustered billboards that contribute to environmental disruption, particularly in Lokoja, the State Capital.

To streamline operations, billboards owners were advised to settle any outstanding levies promptly to avoid penalties. Those yet to register with KOSSAA were urged to do so within a week to avoid enforcement measures.

In response, Mr. Benjamin Akanmode, a practitioner, praised KOSSAA for organizing the meeting, foreseeing a strengthened partnership and improved adherence to advertising regulations. He commended the State Government for establishing the agency and pledged full cooperation to ensure its smooth functioning.

Mr. Dauda Danladi, the Regulations Officer of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), assured of the Council’s support for KOSSAA and encouraged businesses to register with ARCON, emphasizing their role as the National Body. With such collaborative efforts, the outdoor advertising sector in Lokoja is poised for positive growth and development.
