MAAI All Secondary School Mathematics Quiz Competition Ends on a High Note

The maiden edition of the MAAI All Secondary School Mathematics Quiz Competition came to a close on December 9, 2024, with Excellence Bedrock Academy emerging as the winner. Christ the Redeemer Secondary School and ECWA Secondary School took the second and third positions, respectively.

The competition, which was held in Lokoja, witnessed an impressive turnout of 12 schools, with approximately 300 students, parents, principals, and political office holders in attendance. The event was keenly contested, with the winners taking home cash prizes of ₦150,000, ₦100,000, and ₦50,000, respectively, along with educational materials worth thousands of naira, trophies, and medals.

The convener of the competition expressed his vision for making mathematics easy for students to understand, emphasizing the importance of the subject in today’s world.

In his remarks, Hon. Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris FCA assured the students and the academic community of establishing a Mathematics Studio, where the top 10 performers in the competition would commence training, with others to follow.

The Wife of the Honorable Commissioner, Chief Mrs. Rukayat Idris, who represented her husband, commended the success and organization of the event. The Honorable Commissioner of Education, who represented the Governor, praised Hon. Chief Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris FCA for his initiative and called on all well-meaning Kogites to follow suit.

The competition was a huge success, thanks to the collective efforts of the organizers, participants, and stakeholders. It has contributed significantly to promoting mathematics education and excellence among secondary school students in Kogi State.

As the first of its kind in the state, the MAAI All Secondary School Mathematics Quiz Competition has set a high standard for future events. With its focus on mathematics education, the competition has provided a platform for students to showcase their talents and develop their problem-solving skills.
