In a thrilling display of skill and passion, Iyamoye FC emerged victorious in the finals of the 2nd edition of the ONA-ARA MOVEMENT football tournament, with Ojogbede Olorunjuwon scoring a hat-trick to secure a resounding 4-1 victory over Ogale-Aduge FC.
The highly anticipated match was graced by the presence of the Olu Adde of Ekinrin Adde, HRM. Oba Anthony Bamigbaiye Idowu, who commended the teams for their sportsmanship and dedication throughout the tournament. The sponsor, ESV Olugbenga Collins Rotimi, expressed his gratitude to everyone who attended the event and congratulated all the teams that participated.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, ESV Olugbenga Collins Rotimi announced that the next edition of the tournament will be held across Kogi West, with the aim of promoting peace among the youth and communities in the region.
Iyamoye FC walked away with a whopping sum of ₦500,000 as the champions, while Ogale-Aduge FC, the 2nd place winners, received ₦300,000 and the 3rd place winners were awarded ₦200,000. Individual awards were also given out, with Wasiu of Iyamoye FC winning the Best Goalkeeper prize of ₦30,000 and Mohammed from Iyara FC being named the Most Valuable Player, earning ₦30,000.
The CEO of lastwealth, a supporter of the tournament, contributed ₦50,000 for the 1st place team, ₦30,000 and ₦20,000 for the 2nd and 3rd place teams, as well as ₦10,000 for the goalkeeper of Ogale-Aduge FC. Ojogbede Olorunjuwon, the Highest Goal Scorer, received ₦50,000 along with a commemorative ball.
The excitement and camaraderie displayed throughout the tournament exemplified the power of sports to bring communities together, and the organizers are already looking forward to the next edition, which promises to be even bigger and better.
