Education they say is the bedrock of every society and is the major industry of ljumu people, as it can be said that ljumu is educationally advanced. Despite her advancement in the field of education, it is sad that there is no single Tertiary lnstitution in ljumu Kingdom. Very few Government Secondary schools exist in ljumu today, good enough, almost all the Secondary schools were built through self help or communal efforts.
Very recently, on 4th 0ctober, 2022, about 66 students from 22 public secondary schools in ljumu were beneficiaries of Scholarship scheme anchored by OSASEYI Foundation for tuition and WAEC fees.
In a similar development, about 100 senior secondary school students, had on 19th May, 2022, equally got cash and scholarships to pursue their academic careers. Infact, some school Teachers were also beneficiaries of cash award as a motivation for better performance.
The Scholarship scheme by an Okun patriot and Philanthropist, Mr Richard Osaseyi via his Foundation in encouraging and promoting science education in ljumu is also commendable. Ijumu Development Union (lDU) is very proud to partner with this foundation in the area of educational empowerment and human capital development. And to this end, we wish to use this medium to appreciate the foundation for reaching out to the grassroot.
Gladly, we are already in discussion with some prominent ljumu stakeholders towards launching an ljumu Education Infrastructural Development Fund in addressing the deplorable condition of secondary schools in ljumuland. Once again, we say a big thank you to the Executive of Osaseyi Foundation for being a vessel of blessing and also supportive to parents, through which their wards/ children in both private secondary schools and Tertiary institutions are able to accomplish intended educational careers in life.
