The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, officially inaugurated the new leadership of the Edo State Baseball and Softball Association on Thursday at the Media Centre of Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium. Prince Monikhe John Peter was sworn in as Chairman, with Mrs. Caroline Odion Shodunola as Vice Chairman and Obaraye Osakpamwin as Secretary, among other board members.
Describing the event as a “new chapter” in advancing Edo State’s sports agenda, Hon. Enabulele urged the new leadership to actively seek sponsorship opportunities to support sports programs. He emphasized the importance of accessibility, teamwork, and accountability, announcing that quarterly appraisal meetings would be held to monitor progress and address challenges.
Addressing the audience, Enabulele expressed excitement at the participation of young children in baseball and softball at the National Youth Games Zonal Eliminations, aligning with Governor Monday Okpebholo’s vision of developing athletes from a young age.
Following Enabulele’s remarks, he administered the oath of office to the new board members, empowering them to lead the association into a new era. In his acceptance speech, Chairman Prince Monikhe John Peter pledged to reposition baseball and softball in Edo State, promising structured development programs, coaching clinics, and training initiatives. He assured stakeholders of his commitment to providing equipment and enhancing the state’s performance in national and international competitions.
The ceremony was attended by top officials, including the Commission’s Executive Director (Edo North), Barr. Anthony Ikuenobe, Mrs. Efe Amenze, and other dignitaries, marking a significant step towards the development of baseball and softball in Edo State.
