Royal Arena Athletics Academy leads the way in nurturing young talent at the 5th edition of the Okun grassroots athletics competition in Ogidi, Kogi State

***Inspires Grassroots Athletes in Kogi State

In a bid to develop and promote athletics at the grassroots level, Royal Arena Athletics Academy organized its highly anticipated 5th edition of the Okun grassroots athletics competition in Ogidi, Ijumu local government area of Kogi State. The championship, which catered to U-14 and U-18 athletes, featured thrilling events including the 100m, 400m, 800m, and long jump.

Coach Olu Sule, the founder of Royal Arena Academy and National long jump coach, expressed his optimism about the future of athletics in Kogi State after witnessing the extraordinary performances by the young athletes. He emphasized the need for sports enthusiasts to focus on grassroots development and identify talented individuals from a young age.

“Kogi State is blessed with incredible potential,” said Coach Olu Sule. “We are determined to put our state on the world map in athletics once again by harnessing untapped talent.”

The games mistress of St. Monica’s College Kabba, who led her team to the competition, commended Coach Olu Sule’s initiative. She praised his courage and commitment to his community, providing young athletes with the opportunity of a promising future in sports.

Highlighting the importance of role models, Coach Olu Sule honored Nigerian athletics legends such as Late Sunday Bada, Yinka Ajayi, Hajara Yusuf, Victor Peke, Fatimah Yusuf Olukoju, Sunday Emmanuella, Olabisi Afolabi, Kemi Francis, and Ronke Olumudi. He advised the athletes to draw inspiration from their achievements as they pursue their own athletic dreams.

The Royal Arena Athletics Academy’s 5th edition of the Okun grassroots athletics competition showcased the immense talent brewing within Kogi State. This inspiring event not only encouraged young athletes to push their boundaries but also reinforced the significance of investing in sports development at the grassroots level.
