In a heartfelt address to the people of Osun State, the Honourable Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Olumide Egbedun, commended the citizens for their resilience in the face of recent challenges and urged them to participate in the upcoming local government elections. Despite the challenges posed by invaders in the state, the Speaker praised the people for their patience and maturity, emphasizing the importance of unity and peace in times of uncertainty.
The Speaker also commended the Governor for his commitment to the welfare of the people and expressed gratitude to national stakeholders for their support in addressing the issues facing the state. However, he raised concerns over the advice given by the Attorney General of the Federation, which he deemed as biased and potentially detrimental to the electoral process. He emphasized the importance of upholding democracy and ensuring a fair electoral process for all citizens.
As the state prepares for the local government elections, the Speaker urged the people to come out in large numbers and exercise their right to vote. He stressed the importance of participation in shaping the future of the communities and called on political parties and candidates to conduct themselves with integrity and respect during and after the elections. The Speaker also praised the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission for their readiness to conduct the elections and thanked the security personnel for their dedication in maintaining peace and order in the state.
