In commemorating this year’s UN Day of the Girl-Child, the Chairman/Founder of the Osaseyi Foundation reiterates his passion for the well-being of the Girl-Child through his popular saying: “A damaged girl becomes a damaged woman who in turn raises damaged children”

It is not in doubt that these are perilous times for the Girl-child, who is constantly in danger of having her dreams and aspirations thwarted. The Girl-Child is at risk of being damaged physically, emotionally, and mentally by her environment, cultural and traditional practices and the society at large who sees them as weak and inferior to her male counterpart. One obvious and glaring constraint is the lack of access to affordable, inclusive and qualitative education which is a basic right. Mr. Richard Osaseyi in trying to mitigate this threat against the Girl-Child’s future has put in place a Scholarship Scheme which aims at giving the Girl-child a fighting chance to excel.

As the World celebrates the Girl-Child today, we ought to realize that the protection of the Girl-Child is a collective responsibility. It is time we took a bold stance against gender bias and advocate for girls’ rights across and beyond the shores of our dear country, Nigeria.

“I urge all hands to be on deck to ensure the Girl-Child stands a chance against all odds to fulfil her potential and take on the world given the right opportunities, enabling environment and the platform to thrive” Richard Osaseyi affirmed.
