As part of it’s efforts towards empowering the youth and women in Kogi State, the team of the Osaseyi Foundation led by it’s Project Manager, Honourable Amodu Ibikunle Abubakar paid a courtesy visit on the State Co-ordinator and management team of the National Directorate of Employment, Lokoja office on the 23rd day of August, 2022. The purpose of the visit was to intimate the Directorate of the Foundation’s activities and also seek ways in which there can be a synergy between the two organizations.

The foundation was warmly received by the State Co-odinator, Mallam Abubakar Zakari. Also in attendance were Mrs. Opaluwa, Head of Department Skill Acquisition and Vocational training, Mr. Abiodun Ibidun, Head of Department Small Scale Enterprises and Mr. Toyin Ajibade of the Special Public Works department.

The State Co-ordinator lauded the efforts of the Federal Government in creating opportunities for the youth and citizens in general to be empowered through the various schemes put in place by the NDE. He further stated that hundreds of youth, women and even Children had been empowered or trained through the Directorate free of charge. The NDE offers training in Skills such as: Masonery, bead making, Hair dressing, soap and disinfectant making, spice making, phone and laptop repairs, Catering, Tailoring, Perfumery, Aluminium fabrication, etc. He however noted that Sadly, majority of the youth especially graduates have refused to take advantage of these opportunities provided by the government and instead prefer to seek white collar jobs which have become scarce these days. He expressed appreciation to the foundation’s Chairman Mr. Richard Osaseyi for taking this initiative to empower the youth and women in Kogi state as this will drastically reduce unemployment, poverty and crime. He pledged his support to the Foundation and promised to include it in all NDE activities and Skill acquisition programs as they arise.

It was a fruitful meeting as both Organizations pledged to get all hands on deck in order to reduce unemployment in our dear State. If a large part of the citizenry is gainfully employed or engaged in Skill acquisition, Crime and Criminality will be reduced to the barest minimum.

The Osaseyi Foundation continues to be a beacon of hope for humanity.
