The United Progressive Political Parties in Kogi State have expressed their congratulations to Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo, the candidate of the APC, on his victory in the November 11th, 2023 gubernatorial election.
During a world press conference held on November 13th, the Chairman of the United Progressive Political Parties, Alhaji Idrisu Bala, commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting a diligent, credible, and transparent election, which they deem to be the most free and fair since the start of democratic governance in 1999.
“Our aim as the United Progressive Political Parties is to see the Kogi agenda thrive, irrespective of political party affiliation,” stated Alhaji Idrisu Bala. “We acknowledge and appreciate the efforts of INEC in diligently following the electoral processes, ensuring compliance with electoral laws and guidelines. This election is unequivocally free, fair, and credible, and we accept the result.”
In light of the outcome, the United Progressive Political Parties extended their appeal to the APC candidate to demonstrate magnanimity in victory and embrace the policy of all-inclusive governance, as demonstrated by the distinguished President, His Excellency Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Chairman also recognized the incumbent Governor, His Excellency Alh Yahaya Adoza Bello, for his leadership and dedication in the state. “We salute the security agencies for upholding neutrality and professionalism throughout the election,” added the Chairman.
While acknowledging the grievances of some individuals, the United Progressive Political Parties urged all stakeholders to exercise restraint and seek peaceful means of resolving any issues. They emphasized the need for unity in building a Kogi State that transcends ethnicity, religion, and sectionalism.
The United Progressive Political Parties further called upon Governor-elect Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo to prioritize uniting the state by treating all three senatorial districts with fairness and without bias. The mandate given is to consolidate progress and pave the way for a better and brighter future.
The United Progressive Political Parties expressed gratitude to distinguished election observers, NGOs, and the press for their role in ensuring the most peaceful election experience in Kogi State’s democratic history.
