The recent tour of Yagbaland by the SDM Campaign has left an indelible mark on the hearts of the ordinary Okun people. Scenes of jubilant old men, women, young boys, girls, and even pupils rushing out of their classrooms, raising their fingers in signs of victory, painted a picture of a people who have finally found their long-awaited hope.
However, amidst the ecstasy, the sorry state of the infrastructure in Yagbaland could not be ignored. Erosion has begun to gradually devour a significant portion of the roads, isolating Amuro from the rest of Okunland. The once easily traversable stretch of Kabba to Egbe has transformed into a nightmare, leaving many to question the existence of a functioning government in Kogi State. A mass of failure in governance has gripped the region, leaving the people in dire need of change.
Former National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Hon. Kola Ologbondiyan, has faith that this change will be brought about by Senator Dino Melaye. Ologbondiyan believes that Melaye’s election and subsequent swearing into office will mark a turning point in the fortunes of Yagbaland and the wider Okun community.
In closing, honors are bestowed upon the people of Yagbaland for their warm hospitality and for making the SDM Campaign’s stay remarkable. As they look ahead to the future, an even brighter tomorrow is promised. Okun a gbe wa Ooooh!
